Our Cherries

Let’s talk about cherries, those wonderful flavor jewels of early summer. Cherries are the first to ripen of all the stone fruits. They harken the season for all the apricots, peaches, plums etc.

Cherries like many foods favor particular growing climates. We happen to be situated in California’s #1 Cherry county. In California, Cherry Season is Mid May through Early June. This season spans south to north geography and also reflects the different times each variety ripens.

Yes, there are many varieties of Cherries! Most are to you, the eater’s eye a “red” “sweet” cherry, but the varieties vary in many ways, like how they grow, their shade of red, flavor and time of ripeness. We have Bing Cherries, which are becoming a legacy variety loved yet disappearing from California.

Our family has been growing Bing Cherries for over 40 years, and have been CCOF certified Organic since 2010. A very small amount of all the cherries grown in California are Organic (Like less than a percent.) We are very proud to be one of California’s Organic Cherry Growers.
